Styling Database Pages

Contents

Your Webvanta site comes with generically styled database pages, ready for you to add your own visual treatment.

All of the content of the database is presented via just three different page types:

  • Category pages, which summarize all the content related to a particular category (and its subcategories)
  • List pages, which list all the items of a particular type (such as a book or an article) in a given category (such as Birds)
  • Item pages, which present an individual item (such as an article, or a reference to a book or an event)

In many cases, you’ll be able to achieve the results you want by changing only the CSS that styles these pages.

To find the names of the classes that you need to change, use Firebug (with Firefox) to identify the classes from the knowledgebase.css file that are affecting the element of interest.

If you want to change the HTML markup, or customize the way the database is queried, you can edit the Webvanta Script on the standard pages.
