Tag Cloud

I would like to create a Tag Cloud to add to my blog. I looked at some outside resources but they create a tag cloud from your post, the one I tried wasn't very impressive and it took a while to load.

What I want to do is iterate though my blog posts, pull out the comma separated tags, check for duplicates and display the tags in various font sizes in the side bar. Of course in doing this right I would like to have validation at time of entry so that it would suggest existing tags for consistency and allow me to easily enter a new tag, have parameters to adjust size ranges for the display font and number of tags displayed. The tag link would go to a display that showed a listing of th posts containing the tag or to the post itself if only one post contained the tag and if I was on a category listing page it would only show the tags for posts in that category.

I was going to start on this but I thought I would ask to see if anyone had already invented the wheel for me

Tom, we have just rolled out some new features that will make this simple. I'm currently writing up the documentation, so if you can hold tight for a day or two, I'll have this all laid out for you.

We've found a couple issues we need to resolve before rolling out the complete tag-based solution, so it is going to be another two weeks or so.

Tag entry with autocomplete is there today for blog posts: see this forum post:

However, there are a couple holes we need to fill for you to be able to display the tag cloud and link to a page that displays all the posts with a given tag. (You can do this today if you use categories, but not tags.) This is what we'll be resolving in the next two weeks.
