The Webvanta system allows you to associate various metadata fields with uploaded files (assets). For example, you might have a caption, a photographer name, and a category taxonomy, or several taxonomies (such as brand, vintage, and varietal for a site with wine bottle photos).

When moving files from one site to another, preserving this metadata has not previously been possible. We've now added Asset Metadata as an option on the Import and Export functions, so you can transfer this information from one site to another. This is especially useful when cloning a site.

At the moment, the SmartTheme exporter/importer doesn't do this automatically, so you need to do the asset export/import separately. We'll add it to the SmartTheme engine in a future release.
