Create Pages

Contents

Your new Webvanta site starts out with a few pages styled in our basic "bland" template. To complete your site, the first step is to create the pages you want. After you’ve created them, you can modify the images and CSS to make them to look just how you want. You can also ignore all of our starter content and set up your own templates and pages—every aspect of your Webvanta site is under your control.

Create and Edit Pages using the Page Index

To view the Page Index, click Pages on the control panel menu. From this screen you can add pages, delete pages, modify page settings and contents, and set up your menu.

See Creating and Managing Pages for details.

Pages are Structured with Templates

When you create a new page, it gets its overall HTML structure from the template you choose. We provide several standard templates, which you can modify to meet your needs, or you can build your own from scratch or by converting an existing HTML page.

The template defines one or more regions (typically one for each column). You can modify the contents of these regions either via the Edit Page screen, accessed from the Page Index, or using in-place editing while viewing the site.

See Using Templates to Define Page Structure for details.

Menus can be Dynamically Generated

The Page Index screen also shows the menu structure. With a little WebvantaScript, you can use the information from this menu structure to dynamically generate your site's main menu. A typical implementation is in the "header" snippet, provided as part of the standard snippet library of your new Webvanta site and referenced in our standard templates.

Help and teaching sections

From: Michaela, 12/15/09

It would really help to be able to view these side by side with the function one is trying to do. It seems you have to read, then go back log in, try to remember what to do, go back etc.
Thank you
