These are the definition of terms as used in the Webvanta system.
Content Management System (CMS) |
The software that manages all the pages of your site, creates navigation, and makes it easy for you to change the site. |
Database |
The software that manages the structured content of your site, including articles and links to external resources. |
Community System |
The software that handles user registration, profiles, comments, messages, spam protection, and moderation. |
Page |
A web page, as seen by a visitor. Defined in the content management system as the combination of a template and pods. (Structure > Pages) |
Template |
An HTML file that defines the overall structure of a page. (Structure > Templates) |
Region |
An area within a template into which page-specific content is placed. Often a column of the page. |
Slug |
The part of a page's URL that follows the domain name. For example, www.webvanta.com/help has the slug of "help". |
Snippet |
A chunk of text or code that you may want to use more than once. Keep it is one place and reference it by name. (Structure > Snippets) |
Taxonomy |
A set of terms, which can be flat or hierarchical, that is used to organize a body of information. |
Tag |
A keyword assigned to a bit of content. Makes it easy to find all of the items associated with that term. Similar to a taxonomy, but tags are typically generated ad-hoc, whereas a taxonomy is a carefully designed set of terms designed to cover a domain. (Database > Tags) |
Configuration Setting |
A single string with a name, used to set account numbers, colors, and more. (Settings > Global Settings) |

Webvanta language used to access the database and other features from HTML code. |
